Sphinx Stretches are an effective exercise for stretching the lower back and spine. Doing them can help improve flexibility and posture, and reduce tension.

Instructions

  1. Start on your belly, with your elbows directly under your shoulders and your forearms flat on the ground.
  2. Keep your legs extended and together, with the tops of your feet on the ground.
  3. Slowly press your forearms into the ground, and lift your head, neck, and shoulders off the ground.
  4. Keep your gaze forward, and hold the stretch for 10-30 seconds.
  5. Slowly release, lowering your head, neck, and shoulders back down to the ground.
